Licensing

Fingerprinting

Background check step required for many licenses, especially in lending, mortgage, and money transmission. Usually done through a state-approved vendor.

Fingerprinting supports the criminal background checks that many licensing agencies run on owners, officers, and control persons. Prints are usually captured electronically and submitted to state or federal repositories.

Because results can take time to come back, fingerprinting is often the step that paces a license application. Scheduling it early for everyone the regulator will review keeps the rest of the file from waiting.
