Licensing
NMLS
The Nationwide Multistate Licensing System. The shared filing system used for most mortgage and consumer-finance license types across states.
The Nationwide Multistate Licensing System is the federal-state platform that mortgage, money services, and many lending companies use to apply for and maintain licenses. States plug into it to process applications, exhibits, and renewals.
Because so much of the workflow runs through one system, an accurate company record, current filings, and timely renewals in the NMLS are central to staying licensed across multiple states at once.
